Accessibility Website
The Koho intends to provide an accessible website for all users with varying abilities, including those who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnification software and alternative keyboard input devices to navigate the Internet.
Ongoing efforts to ensure accessibility
We adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.1, as the guiding principle for determining accessibility. These are internationally agreed standards that cover a wide range of recommendations and best practices for the usability of content. When we add new pages and features to our website, all designs, code and content entry procedures are reviewed against these standards.
The accessibility of the website is an ongoing process. We continuously test content and functions for compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA and intend to rectify any problems that arise. The testing of our website is carried out by our service providers using industry standard tools such as the Accessibility Checker WordPress plugin, colour contrast analysers, keyboard-only navigation techniques and Flesch-Kincaid readability tests.
Accessibility features on our website
Below you will find a list of elements that we have added to our website to improve its accessibility:
- Our website can be navigated using the keyboard.
- Links, buttons and input errors in forms are clearly recognisable and are highlighted in colour as soon as the focus is placed on them.
- Texts are written in the simplest possible language.
- Images are provided with descriptive texts.
- The page can be displayed by screen readers.
- Font sizes can be enlarged using the ‘TT’ button on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Contrasts are clear and distinct; if necessary, the contrast can be increased using the contrast button on the left-hand side of the screen.
Where we are improving
In our efforts to bring our website up to date, we are focussing on the following areas:
Current problems:
- When searching (magnifying glass symbol) in the header area of the page, the ‘Search’ label is hidden and replaced by a magnifying glass, the link is linked with a ‘#’ for technical reasons and a script displays the corresponding search field on click
This is part of our endeavour to make your stay at Das Koho as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. Please note that while we endeavour to provide accessible information to all users, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third party websites to which we may link. We will endeavour to support you and solve any problems.
